On July 9, PMI moved to a new Examination Content Outline, and the domain weightings shifted more than most people realize. People dropped from 42% to 33%. Process dropped from 50% to 41%. Business Environment went from 8% to 26%.
Governance, compliance, value realization, and external influences now carry more than three times the weight they did under the 2021 outline. AI in project management and sustainability became testable material rather than background, and the exam added new question formats alongside standard multiple choice.
If you hold a PMP rather than pursuing one, the reweighting is still worth reading as a signal. PMI is saying the strategic and organizational side of the role matters more than it used to, which is a reasonable thing to weigh when you decide where to spend your 60 PDUs. Business Environment lines up with Business Acumen in the Talent Triangle, and tomorrow's session with Ira earns 1 in that category.

PM Best Practice: Inventory Your Enterprise Configuration Before It Disappears
Your projects are the obvious thing to save before September 30. The part that catches organizations out is everything surrounding them: enterprise custom fields, lookup tables, security groups and permissions, enterprise calendars, and project templates. That configuration represents years of decisions nobody documented, and it lives in exactly one place. Once the instance is gone you cannot rebuild it from your MPP files, even if you migrate later. Export or document it now, separately from the projects themselves, whether or not you have settled on a destination platform.
